Drying Fresh Mint and Habek! Reviewed by on . Rating: 0

Fresh mint and habek mint (also known as horse or wild mint) are two popular herbs extremely popular throughout the country. The two bright green and fragrant herbs are used almost daily for tea in Saudi households. Mint can usually be found all through the year but habek is seasonal and because of that most families dry it while they have it. Here are some easy tips to show you how you can dry and store yours so you can have at any time of the year. The dried version even packs more of a punch when it comes to flavor.

How to:

  1. Divide herbs into small bunches and tie at the stem (making sure the air can reach every part).
  2. Place into a dark and cool area and allow sitting 1-2 weeks.
  3. Place in an airtight container with a lid. Store in a dark and cool area.

*If a piece crumbles between your fingers then you know it’s ready.
